DTN COMMENTS:  A light trade has developed in Kansas at sharply lower 
money, $237 to $238, $10 to $11 lower than last week's weighted average. 
So far, just a handful have sold in Texas at $237. The $238 heifers from 
earlier were from the FCE Auction. A few bids have been renewed in 
Nebraska, but they continue to be passed. It is looking like the bulk of 
business in that area has essentially been completed for the week. But a 
little light movement here and there is not out of the question.

Today's slaughter totaled 109,000 head, 3,000 below last week, and 8,000 
less than a year ago. Cattle futures closed sharply lower on both live 
(off 187 to 305) and feeder (down 335 to 445) contracts. Beef cutouts are 
expected to close lower with light to moderate box movement.
